The fourth-ranked LSU Tigers capped the Judi Garman Classic with a 6-2 softball victory over Colorado State Saturday afternoon in Fullerton, Cal.
The win came one day after dropping its third loss of the season with a 3-1 defeat to second-ranked Washington.
The Tigers finished the classic with a 3-2 record over a three-day span, picking up wins over No. 25 Texas Tech (6-5), California (5-1) and the Rams.
Sophomore Shelby Wickersham (4-1) picked up the win in the pitcher's circle, tossing a complete game and surrendering six hits with eight strikeouts.
Senior Amanda Doyle led the charge in the batter's box, registering a pair of hits, including an RBI double that scored freshman Taylor Pleasants to put the Tigers ahead 4-1 in the sixth inning.
LSU (16-3) returns home next Friday, March 6 against Campbell in the LSU Round Robin.
