UL picks up 7-5 softball win over Florida

After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, University of Louisiana plated seven unanswered runs to pick up a 7-5 softball win over University of Florida in Gainesville Saturday afternoon.

The win avenges a 6-0 shutout loss in the first of the three-game weekend series at UF on Friday. The series wraps up with an 11 a.m. (central time) showdown on Sunday.

Summer Ellyson picked up the win in the pitcher's circle for Louisiana (13-5), tossing 6.0 innings with three strikeouts. Megan Kleist picked up her second save of the season with a nine-pitch seventh inning to close out the win.

UL's offense registered seven hits from six different hitters, led by a pair of base hits from Kaitlyn Alderink. Carrie Boswell, Sarah Hudek, Melissa Mayeaux, Taylor Roman and Alissa Dalton registered one hit each, while Boswell drove in a pair of runs.
